Russians attacked medic evacuation vehicle in Kharkiv Oblast with drone
The Russians attacked a vehicle of the Hospitallers volunteer medical battalion in the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz with an FPV drone . Two medics, a man and a woman, who were inside the vehicle, were killed. An explosion from a Russian drone also hit a civilian car that was travelling in the same direction. There were three people in the car, all of them sustained injuries.
Fighting is most intense on Pokrovsk front, with 37 Russian attacks in a day
The Ukrainian defense forces are firmly countering Russian attempts to advance, with the number of combat clashes rising to 106. The Pokrovsk front is particularly intense, with 37 attacks occurring in areas including Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Zhelanne, Zelene Pole, Vodiane, Skuchne, Karlivka, and Ptyche.
Ukrainian forces have repelled 25 Russian attacks, while 12 are still ongoing. Vozdvyzhenka and Hrodivka were targeted with guided aerial bombs, and Oleksandopil was struck with non-guided aerial missiles.
A 19-year-old fighter of Azov Yuliia Boianovska killed in action
Yuliia Boianovska, known by her alias Tysha (Silence), was killed on August 12 in a battle near the village of Hrekivka, Luhansk Oblast. She served with the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Azov regiment. She would have turned 20 years old on September 2.
Russian forces target energy facilities in Ukraine's north and south
Russian forces struck an energy facility belonging to Ukrenergo, Ukraine's national energy company, in the country's south on 14 August.
No power outages occurred, and emergency repairs are underway.
Russian UAVs attacked an energy facility operated by a local distribution system operator in Ukraine's north, causing power outages in some districts of Chernihiv Oblast. Power was restored to all consumers by the morning.
In Kharkiv Oblast, the Energy Ministry reported that a substation and household consumers experienced power outages due to hostilities.
During an air raid in Chernihiv Oblast, substations, household and industrial consumers, and the railway lost power. Train traffic was unaffected. Over 19,000 customers lost power, but it was restored using a backup system.
In Donetsk Oblast, a substation and a mine suffered a power outage due to hostilities. At the time, 24 people were in the mine, and all were safely brought to the surface.
Zelenskyy honored doctors who rescued children from Okhmatdyt Children's hospital
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has honored three doctors from the Okhmatdyt Children’s hospital in Kyiv for their courage and dedication.
One of the awards was given posthumously. The Order for Courage (3rd class) was awarded to pediatric maxillofacial surgeon Oleh Holubchenko, who was operating on a five-month-old baby during the massive Russian missile attack on July 8. A photograph of Holubchenko, covered in blood but still in snow-white scrubs, went viral. Despite being injured himself, he helped clear away the rubble and rescue his colleagues.
The second award was given to Anastasiia Zakharova, a paediatrician in the Intensive and Efferent Therapy Department for Chronic Intoxication, who received the Order of Merit (3rd class). Anastasiia was inside the ruined building during the attack and played a crucial role in rescuing trapped children and providing medical assistance to the wounded, despite sustaining numerous injuries herself.
The Order For Courage (3rd class) was posthumously awarded to pediatric nephrologist Svitlana Lukianchuk, who was killed while evacuating children to a shelter.
