Russia attacked Dnipro, at least nine people were injured
At least eight people were injured in Dnipro as Russia targeted the city with Shahed drones overnight on Feb. 23, according to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak. A high-rise was damaged in the attack, and rescue operations are ongoing, with concerns that people might be trapped under the rubble. Seven of the injured individuals are currently hospitalized.
In addition to the attack on Dnipro, Russian forces launched a drone attack against Odesa, hitting an infrastructure facility, as reported by Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper. Ukraine's Air Force had previously warned about the threat of drone attacks for Odesa, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
Drone attacks have become a daily occurrence in Ukraine, affecting various regions across the country. Overnight on Feb. 22, Ukraine’s air defense downed eight Shahed drones. Ukrainian authorities have been anticipating Russian attacks throughout the winter, with a focus on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and other civilian sites.
Russian drone attack killed 3 civilians in Odesa kill 3
Three civilians were killed in a Russian drone attack on Odesa overnight on Feb. 23, according to a report from Odesa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper. The attack involved Shahed-131/136 attack drones, as well as X-31P and Kh-22 missiles launched from strategic aircraft over the Black Sea. However, the missiles lost their combat capability in the air.
Ukraine's Air Force had previously warned about the threat of drone attacks for Odesa, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The military reported that air defense successfully downed at least nine drones over Odesa Oblast. One of the drones that crashed over the sea hit a building in the coastal zone of Odesa, causing a fire. A security guard was rescued from the damaged building.

Russian attacked Donetsk, Kherson oblasts
Russian attacks against Ukraine’s Kherson and Donetsk oblasts resulted in two deaths and 21 injuries, according to reports from regional authorities on Feb. 23. In Kherson Oblast, Russia launched 287 strikes, firing 1,716 projectiles that hit various targets, including houses, a warehouse, a cell tower, an archival institution building, and port infrastructure. One person was killed, and two others were injured. Since the liberation of Kherson and other settlements in the region in November 2022, Russia has continued to heavily strike the area, causing multiple civilian casualties.
In Donetsk Oblast, a rocket attack on the village of Kostiantynopolske killed one person and injured nine others, including four children. Ten more people were injured in strikes against Kurakhove and Druzhba. The attacks damaged over 40 houses, two apartment buildings, and a boarding school. Donetsk Oblast remains a site of intense fighting as Russia seeks to capture the entire region.
