A voice of Ukraine to the West
Dialog with Trump's team may take place in early February -Ukrainian official
The newly inaugurated U.S. President Donald Trump's team may engage with a Ukrainian delegation in early February during Ukrainian Week in Washington, according to Davyd Arakhamiia, leader of the Servant of the People party faction in Ukraine's parliament. Speaking on the national 24/7 newscast, Arakhamiia expressed optimism about key processes and discussions with members of Trump’s administration taking place during the event.
Following the statement, the Servant of the People party clarified that Arakhamiia referred to "contacts" rather than formal "talks" with the Trump team. The delegation from the Ukrainian parliament aims to initiate active engagement with Trump’s newly appointed and incoming officials at various levels, including inter-parliamentary meetings, during Ukrainian Week in Washington.
Putin declares readiness for talks with US on condition of Ukraine's complete surrender
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed readiness to engage in talks with the United States regarding the war in Ukraine but has issued an ultimatum demanding Ukraine’s complete surrender. This was discussed during a Russian Security Council meeting on January 20, where Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized their willingness for peace negotiations with the administration of newly inaugurated U.S. President Donald Trump.
Putin insisted that any resolution must address the so-called "root causes" of the conflict, including Russia's non-negotiable demands. These demands, reiterated by Kremlin officials, involve Ukraine remaining permanently neutral, refraining from NATO membership, drastically reducing its military capabilities, and replacing its current government. Putin also referred to a 2021 proposal by former U.S. President Joe Biden to delay Ukraine's NATO accession by 10-15 years, claiming it failed to prevent Russia’s invasion, which he deemed inevitable due to perceived threats from NATO’s expansion.

In the Synelnykove district, a man was injured in the attack and is currently hospitalized in moderate condition, receiving necessary medical care. Zelensky arrived in Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum
President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the annual World Economic Forum (WEF), as confirmed by his spokesperson, Serhii Nykyforov, on January 21. Zelensky’s agenda includes bilateral talks with leaders from Latin America and Asia, meetings with top business executives, and a speech later in the day. A key focus of the forum will be the "Peace through Strength" strategy, aimed at leveraging military and economic resilience to push Russia toward a fair peace agreement. Additionally, discussions will cover increased defense spending in Europe, NATO's future, and broader European defense strategies, reflecting heightened investments since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The event also features key sessions involving Ukrainian officials. On January 22, Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, will join former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in discussing Ukraine's peace formula. The "Ukraine: The Road Ahead" session, set for January 23, will include prominent figures such as Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. This year's forum theme, "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age," will address geo-economic uncertainty and the evolving role of artificial intelligence, with nearly 3,000 participants from over 130 countries, including 60 heads of state and government. Zelensky's participation follows his attendance at the 2024 WEF, which closely aligned with global peace efforts for Ukraine.
