Zelenskyy wishes Trump quick recovery after attempt on his life

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to the recent shooting incident that took place during a rally for US presidential candidate Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. In a statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Zelenskyy expressed his shock and wished Trump a speedy recovery.

"I am appalled to learn about the shooting of former US President Donald Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania," Zelenskyy said. "Such violence has no justification and no place anywhere in the world. Never should violence prevail."

Zelenskyy further expressed relief upon hearing that Trump was safe and extended his condolences to the victim's close ones, a rally attendee who was affected by the incident.

"I am relieved to learn that Donald Trump is now safe and wish him a speedy recovery. My condolences go out to the close ones of this attack’s victim, a rally attendee," Zelenskyy added.

The Ukrainian president also offered words of support to all those shaken by the event, emphasizing the need for resilience in the face of such tragedies. "I extend my wishes for strength to everyone who is horrified by this event. I wish America emerges stronger from this," he concluded.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and calls for increased security measures at public events as the US presidential campaign progresses.

Russian forces have claimed they successfully deployed an FAB-3000 bomb on a position held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The claim was made in a video featuring a Russian pilot, who boasted about the bomb's destructive capabilities.

"It is difficult to imagine a target that would not be destroyed by an aerial bomb of this size," the pilot stated in the video.

The FAB-3000 is a heavy bomb, known for its significant destructive power, and its use underscores the escalating intensity of the conflict. The implications of such an attack remain to be fully assessed, with concerns over the potential for extensive damage and casualties.

Ukraine's President's Office states Ukraine did not reject Gripen Swedish fighter jets

hor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has clarified that Ukraine has not rejected the Swedish-made JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. Instead, Ukrainian troops are prioritizing training on F-16 fighter jets, with ongoing negotiations regarding the purchase of the Gripens.

In an interview with Voice of America, Zhovkva addressed statements by the Swedish Foreign Minister, who suggested that Ukraine decided to halt the process of acquiring Swedish jets.

"I have never heard that Ukrainians rejected the Gripen fighter jets. On the contrary, this is a topic my president always brings up during talks with the Swedish leadership," Zhovkva emphasized.

He noted that discussions about the Gripen jets have been ongoing since before Sweden's accession to NATO. Previously, Sweden was not in a position to make any promises regarding the jets.

"Now that Sweden is in NATO, my president is speaking with the Prime Minister of Sweden again, and our Defence Ministry is in communication with the relevant Swedish bodies. These fighter jets are as good as the F-16s. So we are moving in this direction," Zhovkva concluded.
