Russia launched an overnight drone strike on Kyiv on Nov. 3, lasting over five hours. Between Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m. and the morning of Nov. 3, Russian forces fired a guided air missile and 96 drones at Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces downing 66 drones and the missile. Ukraine calls on Moscow to provide list of POWs ready for swap
On Nov. 3, Kyiv urged Moscow to provide a list of Ukrainian POWs ready for exchange after Russia accused Ukraine of hindering the process. Ukrainian human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets reiterated Kyiv's willingness for prisoner swaps via Telegram. This came after Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukraine of refusing to accept its citizens, stating that while Russia offered 935 POWs, Ukraine accepted only 279.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, both nations have conducted regular POW exchanges, with the latest involving 95 prisoners on each side in mid-October. Lubinets blamed Russia for delays, while Russian official Tatyana Moskalkova claimed Ukraine had politicized the issue.
Lubinets also highlighted that since 2022, Russian forces have executed at least 102 Ukrainian POWs, based on data from Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office. Evidence of these executions, including video footage of POWs being shot as they surrendered and signs of torture, has circulated on social media and been documented for submission to Russia’s human rights commissioner.
