Kyiv confirms first battles between Ukrainian and North Korean soldiers in Kursk Oblast
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed initial clashes between Ukrainian forces and North Korean troops in Russia's Kursk Oblast. North Korea recently deployed 11,000 soldiers to this region, with reports suggesting numbers could increase to 15,000. North Korean soldiers, disguised as Buryats to blend with Russian troops, were deployed to support Russia's lines while experienced Russian units advance in Ukraine’s east. President Zelensky has indicated that if allowed, Ukraine could use Western long-range weapons to target North Korean camps in Russia. Russia has reportedly informed the West of North Korea's involvement.
Russia struck near residential area in Kharkiv, injuring at least 2
On Nov. 5, Russia launched a drone attack on Kharkiv, injuring two women and damaging a five-story apartment building near a residential area, according to Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov. The attack, occurring around 5 p.m., shattered windows on multiple floors and damaged nearby cars. Emergency services are still at the scene.
Kharkiv, located near the Russian border, has faced constant attacks since the start of the war. Russia has recently increased aerial strikes on the city, often targeting populated areas. Previous attacks include one on Oct. 28 that damaged the UNESCO-protected Derzhprom building and another on Nov. 3 in the Shevchenkivskyi district, injuring at least 15 people.
