On September 9, Russian forces shelled the town of Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl and injuries to three others, as reported by Governor Serhii Lysak. Nikopol, located near the Kakhovka Reservoir and opposite the Russian-occupied Enerhodar and Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, has frequently been targeted by Russian attacks.

In the early morning, around a dozen artillery shells struck the town, causing significant damage to residential buildings. The body of the young girl was discovered in the rubble of one of the damaged houses. The attack also injured two elderly men, aged 79 and 74, and a 66-year-old woman. One of the men required hospitalization.

This attack in Nikopol is part of a broader escalation, with Russian strikes across Ukraine over the past day killing seven people and injuring at least 32, according to reports from regional authorities.

The results of the investigation of the F-16 crash will be known soon

The reasons behind the recent crash of a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet remain unknown, with a special commission from the Ministry of Defense currently investigating the incident. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, shared this information in an interview with CNN.

Syrskyi mentioned that before the crash, the pilot managed to shoot down two Russian missiles and targeted a third cruise missile using the aircraft's onboard weapons. However, he refrained from commenting on the possibility of friendly fire, noting that the investigation is still ongoing.

Syrskyi expressed confidence that the details of the crash would soon be clarified and made public. He emphasized that while the investigation continues, the effectiveness of the F-16s in Ukraine's defense is evident. According to him, a pair of F-16s successfully destroyed four cruise missiles, underscoring the aircraft's critical role in bolstering Ukraine's defenses against Russian missile attacks.

Explosions were heard in Kharkiv around 3:00 a.m. as a result of shelling that caused damage to private residential buildings. The mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, reported that Russian forces attacked the city with anti-aircraft guns, with several impacts recorded.

Terekhov later clarified that private residential buildings in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv were damaged due to a KAB strike. The impact caused a fire in a garage and nearby vegetation. Fortunately, preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office provided further details, noting that in addition to the damaged homes in the Kyiv district, commercial premises, a garage, and cars were also affected. Another fire broke out in residential buildings in the village of Mala Danylivka within the Kharkiv district, but no casualties were reported there either.

Law enforcement officials, after examining the debris, believe that the attack involved the use of an FAB-250 bomb equipped with a Unified Modular Planning and Control Kit (UMPK).
